Dub Trio & Matisyahu

Sign in to disble this ad
I got to see these guys live last night along with steel pulse and some other bands. And Dub Trio is a sick!! band. Just a really big sound for only three guys. Stu Brooks is the man, he was holdin it down hard. And i thought the AG500 sounded pretty sick too. Anyone know what he use's when he switches from heavy parts to the dub parts. It sounded super heavy when he would do that, other than that I think it's all in the fingers though for sure..haha

He uses a Moog lowpass filter as his main effect (plus some delays and other stuff).

Monster band. WHen I saw them a couple years ago, DT would do their own set as the opening act, and then play with Matisyahu. A good time was had by all.

I wonder why Matisyahu ditched his previous backing band?

+1 for Dub Trio, -1 for Matisyahu. IMO Dub Trio actually brings some real creativity and talent to their act... while Matisyahu is just a dull clown, no matter who (or how skilled) his backing band may be.

Dub Trio is amazing. If you haven't checked out live at Stubbs Vol 2 yet, you definitely should. I saw them last year with Matisyahu, absolutely killer show. I've got tickets to see them here in KC next month with The Wailers. Pretty excited.

I wish i got to see them do there own set without matisyahu, but still the sound was tight, that moog gives a super deep dub sound! My favorite parts were when they would just dub and start dubbing out the drums.

Saw them several years ago in LA as the backing band for Peeping Tom. Mike Patton, Imani Coppola, Rahzel, Dan the Automater, and Dub Trio sharing a stage. It was unreal.

Here's their performance on the Henry Rollins Show. Even with the low quality audio, you can hear that Stu's tone is killer.

It wasn't Dub Trio, it was Roots Tonic, which was Matisyahu's original band when he signed to Sony.

The albums was released by ROIR. The bass player directs Lee Perry's band now and he and Bill Laswell just produced a killer new Scratch Perry album (arguably his best in years) called "Rise Again" that's out through Bill's new label, M.O.D. Technologies
