My buddy who is a keyboard player and in his 50's says that Duck Dunn has played with the most number of bands than any other bass player. I say BS..though probably in the top 5 busiest and most credentials not #1 by far. Who do YOU think is, and give me some other names so I can prove him wrong..or is he right?

At his highest, this man kept 5 double basses in different places in NYC and taxi-cabbed between them from one recording session to the next. Every day. And that was before there even were bass guitars...

Of course, "Duck" Dunn is one of the Greats, but there are many others...
If you are talking "just" being busy, I would totally agree with jerry and mention Nathan East, Will Lee, Lee Sklar...
I would add other session giants such as Neil Stubenhaus, Bob Glaub, Tony Levin, Pino Palladino...
If we are talking being members of a band though, I would feel compelled to mention Bootsy Collins with James Brown and P-Funk, session great and Living Colour bass visionary Doug Wimbish and the one and only Darryl Jones, whose rather impressive CV includes... - Miles Davis
- Madonna
- Sting's utterly phenomenal "Blue Turtles" band
- Rolling Stones

He played on sessions from the 50s-00s and at nearest estimate played on 20,000 records.
Duck's primarily known for Booker T and the MGs and Memphis Sessions. His other high visibility group would be The Blues Brothers. A great way to check on recording credits is to go to www.allmusic.com and type in a bassists name in "Artists". You'll usually get a credit list, especially with established players.
Here's Duck's credits: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...bfoxqq5ldse~T4
He's a busy, busy guy!
Here's Bob Moore's: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...bfexqqgld6e~T4
Now that's nuts!

That's because it appears that the LA studio heyday was more of an assembly line process than the more spontaneous way the Stax people worked. Plus The Wrecking Crew did a lot of movies as well as record dates.
