Me and a friend of mine did a dueling bass kind of thing. It was a together at the beginning and then we took turns soloing and backing (like a duel) and ended together for a local battle of the talents, hosted by the school. We both played our Warwick Corvette Standards. So matching basses too, except mine is a red 4-string and his is a blue 5-string.

We won 3rd place. 1st and 2nd place went to two drummers that did drum solos. So that was great. And just to make it even better, I was in a band that was in the battle too. Guess what, the band and me and my friend's bass duel tied for 3rd. So there was a tie breaker battle. I was like, I'm gonna win and loose either way. lol It was pretty cool. I felt good about myself. I think it was the performance of the band (I had a wireless and I was running around going crazy. Metal band.) and the fact that most people didn't think that you could do that much with a bass (or two) .

When I saw the title, NAD was the first band to pop into my head. Good band, and really nice guys.

I also like Dos (Mike Watt/Kira Roessler)

Check out the Deep, two great six string players and some great drummers playing some funk and jazz. Great album for any bass player or jazz fan.

During a jazz gig, it was time to play So What. The keyboard player says, "This one's all about the bass."

The drummer says, "All about the bass? That must be why it's called So What."

I liked NAD's songs, but could never hear the 2 different bass players.

There was also around that time a group called Cop Shoot Cop. Real avante gard/art/noise. One bassist was a punk guy and the other loved King Crimson and Yes. I saw one of their videos in between sets at a concert like 15 years ago. I might like them more now.

Does Meshelle N'DegeOcello's touring band count?

How about Spinal Tap doing 'Big Bottom?' Come on 3 basses! Even though it's a spoof song/movie you gotta admit that the music isn't that bad.

I just got one watching the video for Balancing Act - Trim The Fat. The song was decent but the second bassplayer didn't play anything but the same 3 chords over and over. I was really hoping to see some combined bass line groove and masterful wanking. Sadness .

it's not all about wank, taste and playing for the song is important to... it's what keeps my cell phone ringing.

Violent Femmes

I have been doing some dual bass work with Brian Ritchie and the Violent Femmes. That has been a dream come true!

I really like what my band 'Bassexual' has come up with. For the most part I'm playing a Warwick Masterman 5 tuned with a high C. I dig the limitations offered with two basses and we often strive to have bass playing parts that don't sound like bass.

Cheers

I also dig Balancing Act. I like the way both basses interact. I`ve been listening to one of their players (Cameron Mc) for sometime now and let me tell you he`s a helluva player.

I saw "Dixie Dregs" a few years back with Andy West, their original bass player and Dave LaRue both playing bass. That was pretty cool!

Molotv has two basses. But they usually play the same line being the ponly difference the tone.
