Duff never really struck me as a good fit for Jane's Addiction anyway.

What was he even doing in Jane's Addiction in the first place. Don't get me wrong I think he's great but come on. Maybe now that Slayer's calling quits they could get Tom Araya?

I was really hoping it would work out. Duff is just great, but obviously very different from Avery (also great). Bummer.

Haha, I never even knew he joined JA. The vocals must have driven him away, not unlike an ice pick into the eye.

Yeah, but remember who he used to play with. Probably has a higher tolerance than normal folks.

I don't remember where I read about it. Probably online somewhere.

No offense dude, but I think you're wrong. I'm going to see them in two weeks and I'm pretty sure they have plans for another album.

Definitely incorrect. Slayer's still going strong.

Knew this thread would draw the Duff haters. As far as his stint with JA, I never understood that pairing - I guess they just wanted the name recognition - Duff fits in with them like a square peg in a round hole. What`s next ? Him joining Slayer if Araya leaves ? AHAHAHA ! Seriously though, I like him. He`s not the greatest, of course, but he`s good at what he does. Even if "what he does" isn`t very inventive or imaginative. My opinion of Duff got a big boost within the last year when I picked up his side band "Loaded" disc. He did the writing, rhythm guitar, and vocals on it...and it`s quite good, actually. His bassist is phenomenal, too ; ironically HE would be a great fit in Jane`s. And mtshark`s request for more VR - after hearing Duff`s album, they should just put him out front and go with it. He`s no Weiland, but he`s not bad either. I, for one, am glad to see the Loaded project is prepping another disc.

From what I read they planned on continuing for a while and when they are done whatever it is that they are doing Tom, at least it done. That wasn't really the point of my post anyway. I was just trying to point out how crappy a choice Duff was to replace Eric Avery.

Yeah, Duff's a great player -- Pickles the Drummer would class him as "scumbag rock royalty" -- but he's about as apt a fit for Jane's as Eric Avery would have been for Metallica.
