I'm out of town on business until Thursday evening, so I'm not sure. If I can make it, I'll wear a TB shirt or hoodie so I'll be easy to spot.

| | | Hey guys! Hope it's cool to post this here, ut I'm too excited about it to NOT mention it somewhere.
My band, ARC ( www.myspace.com/officialarc ) just got on the bill for a couple shows at THE VALARIUM in Knoxville! (Ok, so one's at the Cider House, but it's attached to the Valarium, so, it counts right? )
We're opening up for Tabula Rasa and Opiate (international Tool tribute band) on April 1st, and opening for Scale The Sumit, Fair To Midland, an PERIPHERY on April 8th! I'm SOOOO excited!
Hope to see some of you fellows there! Be sure tocome up and introduce yourself, I'd love to know what you guys think. |

There will be performances on Friday night, Saturday afternoon and night, and Sunday. I'm probably going to be playing this show direct, which I dislike doing when I have an array of amplification, but I'll make it sound good (if the sound guy cooperates) with a VT Bass and Radial JDI. I'll probably be playing my natural ash G&L L-2500, trying to decide between it and the sunburst L-2500.

It's Jody w/ a "y".
I'll be jamming in my basement w/ the boys this weekend hehe, hopefully gigging by early summer.
We are considering getting a keys player if anybody knows any that may be interested in making some $$ playing covers...

I'll throw in that I am a UT allum and wish I could move back at least twice a week. |

I broke down and bought some Black Knight Swordsteels from Jens, the pink strings are starting to fade. (the tone, not the color!)

I am taking an amp tomorrow night. I can't stand wearing headphones. I also took off the phones and played a song from feel, so I could listen to the FOH mix, and the sound guy had NO bass in the house to amount to anything. Of course, the electronic drums were hot- especially the bass drum. Does any of that sound familiar to my bass friends here?
The guitar player did bring an amp, and played loud. So I'm bringing an amp regardless of the sound guy's objections. Ha! I'm older and meaner than the sound guy!

| | Slush Machine Detritus | | Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Knox, Knox, who's there? | | Okay, the show opens tomorrow night at West. Things are better than two nights ago when I was griping. I'm playing through my little Carvin combo, which helps a lot. But- gosh, the keyboardists have not played a theatre gig before, and some of us are doing headphones and some aren't- which is problematic. And of course, the cast, being high schoolers, are funky on singing in time.
It has potential. Jody, come on out tomorrow night, bro. If you do, I'll buy you a round afterwards over on Kingston Pike somewhere close.
Dave Freeman, the guitar player, is having too much fun with a big pedalboard, and is bringing a lot of good vibe to this.
Ain't going to be perfect, but hey, it's high school, and it will be fun. It IS a paying gig, so that's a good thing.
I had dinner beforehand at Osaka across the street from West High, and man, was that good. They closed at nine, though, so couldn't go back for sake shots afterwards.
