Friday night, huh? I may have to make it down. I'm out of town on business until Thursday evening, so I'm not sure. If I can make it, I'll wear a TB shirt or hoodie so I'll be easy to spot.

Hey guys! Hope it's cool to post this here, ut I'm too excited about it to NOT mention it somewhere.

My band, ARC ( www.myspace.com/officialarc ) just got on the bill for a couple shows at THE VALARIUM in Knoxville! (Ok, so one's at the Cider House, but it's attached to the Valarium, so, it counts right? )

We're opening up for Tabula Rasa and Opiate (international Tool tribute band) on April 1st, and opening for Scale The Sumit, Fair To Midland, an PERIPHERY on April 8th! I'm SOOOO excited!

Hope to see some of you fellows there! Be sure tocome up and introduce yourself, I'd love to know what you guys think.

Didn't think I'd get to, but I am, in fact, playing bass for "Joseph" at West High this coming weekend. There will be performances on Friday night, Saturday afternoon and night, and Sunday. I'm probably going to be playing this show direct, which I dislike doing when I have an array of amplification, but I'll make it sound good (if the sound guy cooperates) with a VT Bass and Radial JDI. I'll probably be playing my natural ash G&L L-2500, trying to decide between it and the sunburst L-2500.

Congrats Kermin, the Valarium is a fun place to play!

And Michael V, I'll see if I can get out and see you.

Hope you can, Jody!

Who else is playing this coming weekend?

(Edit for Jody's name- fixed. Maybe you should change your handle to JEDY BASS? ha!)

Hey, I'm not a chick! :-)

It's Jody w/ a "y".

I'll be jamming in my basement w/ the boys this weekend hehe, hopefully gigging by early summer.

We are considering getting a keys player if anybody knows any that may be interested in making some $$ playing covers...

Can I get some kind of honorary membership for being born, raised and spending the first 24 years of my life there? (Plus four more in Nashville before the great Midwest migration)

I'll throw in that I am a UT allum and wish I could move back at least twice a week.

Probably the Dingwall Z3, but I may have to bring the Ritter as a backup if I get time to change the strings out. I broke down and bought some Black Knight Swordsteels from Jens, the pink strings are starting to fade. (the tone, not the color!)

Only if you come back to "refresh" your accent at least twice annually.;-)

That'll work! As long as you wear a helmet, have your own tip jar, and we pay you in AIR cash, lol.

Just got in from the first rehearsal with the cast and the show band. Hmm. It was a bit of a mess tonight, and I don't see how it's going to come together before Friday night. It will, though.

I am taking an amp tomorrow night. I can't stand wearing headphones. I also took off the phones and played a song from feel, so I could listen to the FOH mix, and the sound guy had NO bass in the house to amount to anything. Of course, the electronic drums were hot- especially the bass drum. Does any of that sound familiar to my bass friends here?

The guitar player did bring an amp, and played loud. So I'm bringing an amp regardless of the sound guy's objections. Ha! I'm older and meaner than the sound guy!

+1. Sounds like a good idea. We could all start doing this at each others show.

Okay, the show opens tomorrow night at West. Things are better than two nights ago when I was griping. I'm playing through my little Carvin combo, which helps a lot. But- gosh, the keyboardists have not played a theatre gig before, and some of us are doing headphones and some aren't- which is problematic. And of course, the cast, being high schoolers, are funky on singing in time.

It has potential. Jody, come on out tomorrow night, bro. If you do, I'll buy you a round afterwards over on Kingston Pike somewhere close.

Dave Freeman, the guitar player, is having too much fun with a big pedalboard, and is bringing a lot of good vibe to this.

Ain't going to be perfect, but hey, it's high school, and it will be fun. It IS a paying gig, so that's a good thing.

I had dinner beforehand at Osaka across the street from West High, and man, was that good. They closed at nine, though, so couldn't go back for sake shots afterwards.
