You're right so I'll choose my words carefully.

First, I'm not angry, not politically motivated and not seeking debate. Just adding a few thoughts to what's going on that might be relevant to the music scene in this beautiful part of the country.

There are different types of alcohol licenses. I don't know the ins and outs of TN laws or county laws but I do know that in some places the food requirement kicks in with the sale of "spirits". In other words hard alcohol. There is a separate license for selling beer and wine that doesn't require food. So there may be choices to be made. Again, I'm not an authority, just sayin' that there may be other facts to gather that were not presented in that article.

The other thing to remember is that the government is us. They are from our ranks and are supposed to represent us and in a real sense are employed by us. Since the primary criteria of any employee is to keep their job, elected employees tend to say and do what they think will continue to get them re-elected. That gives you and I some power. It also means that if they are acting wisely they are reflecting the will of the majority in their area. And just because something they do doesn't sit well with you or I doesn't mean they are not reflecting the wishes of the majority. (scary thought - but who says the majority has good sense?) Of course, no on ever said that politicians always act wisely either.

My point is this: I'm old enough to remember Sullivan county as a dry county. That any alcohol is being served is progress for this area, but it tends to lag behind most of the rest of the country. Since this trend has continued over my lifetime you have to consider that it's not just the work of the recently elected officials but that there is significant support among the general population.

So as always, there may be many factors to think about and maybe even more research to be done to know the full story of what's going on. I counsel patience, looking at all angles and developing a well educated, informed opinion.

P.S.
If my post is out of bounds of the rules, please feel free to delete it. This thread is valuable in helping friends stay connected. I don't want to be any part of breaking that up.

Thank you sir ! I grabbed it. Wanted to try one for a while now and short of it looking like it's been dragged behind a truck, shouldn't be hard to get rid of if I don't like it.

Question, does anyone in our general area running a Jules Monique?

Pretty quiet here on the gear purchase action. I grabbed a Lakland Skyline DJ5 maple with Fralins that I am loving. And the new back up head is a GB Streamliner 900. Other than that, I have been giving the checkbook a rest.

The standing joke here in Sullivan County is that if you want to raise hell, go to Johnson City. If you wan't to raise a family, live in Kingsport.

I have never gotten used to beer bars. It's just not normal.

While everyone is on the Eden bandwagon, my WT405 is on the fritz. It's been my backup and I was thinking of getting something in a smaller package for that purpose so I'm not going to fix it. If you have repair skills I'll let this go for cheap.

Why, Thank You! I try to post our gigs to this thread in hopes of meeting more ETTBrs and I haven't been disappointed yet! Great guys ALL! We will be at Schmuck's in JC on Dec. 1 - $7 @ the door. And Zoomie, please come and bring that DJ5. I've been itching to try one of those for a long time!

So, I'm assuming you've played there before? If so, what's the setup? House PA? Bring PA? They just contacted us Thursday and I don't have the scoop yet.

Speaking of JC, we will be back at the Acoustic Coffee House in "The Big Room" on Jan 19.

Good deal, Zoomie! I was hoping a fellow ETTBr would snag it. It is awesome as a DI, especially to record with. Hope you enjoy it!

It's real small and we had to bring a PA, but they have great pizza. They don't really have a stage, they just move some tables out of the way. Make sure you have an extension cord and a couple power strips just in case. I like it though, I'm a fan of small venues.

hey brothers!

I myself have never played SCHMUCKS but i did go there 7-8 weeks ago to watch a student of mine's metal band.

There was no stage. The band was set up in the corner of the front room. (whoever in the band is on far stage left will have to deal with traffic coming in the front door).

The p.a. was 2 small cabs on poles. There were 2 monitors.
I dont know if this system belonged to the venue.

Like i say, i have only been there once so i dont know what kind of music the place has on other nights.

To OLDSCHOOL: I would go in there with the smallest p.a. i could with small amps. It is a small room. I have no idea what kind of crowd youll have because the night I was there it was mainly "very young adults" moshing.

Also that night they had a guy called "jesco white" (i think)
that "played" first. I am still confused about what i saw.

After that 3 or 4 all original metal bands played.

Good luck!

Probably two 12's on poles and two 12's for monitors with vocals and kick only thru the PA. (Played a few small rooms) Goodie! Another chance to use my new Tech 21 Combo! Love to have you out Tom. Bring a lefty though 'cause you're definitely going to sit in! Especially with that door thing!

I really appreciate it ! I am kind of working my way through DI's. I don't use the GT-10B a lot as all the stuff we play really doesnt need effects. Just want some tone modelling at times. Music is all very simple. Just call me the root note rider ! rofl

If it fails to blow my dress up, I'll find a way to let everyone know here without mucking up the thread.

I like that a number of us post gigs here, especially for Kingsport, JC, Bristol, Abington, etc. That way, if Mrs Zoomie and I are out and about, I will make a point of saying hello to the bass player. No one EVER says hello to the bass player.

I missed the last one as my schedule has been heck lately. I have either been at the office, learning new material, at rehearsal, or sleeping.

I will happily bring the DJ5 down for you to fondle if I am not stress testing my recliner. If not, I am down in JC off exit 24 practicing every Tuesday and Thursday. Won't be hard to get together. Also, my largest client is down in Rogersville and I'm down there pretty regularly.
