I have an Elvis Live in Las Vegas CD. I never really paid attention to the performance's nuances before but after giving it s spin yesterday I discovered that it was a very nicely mixed work (from a bass players POV). You can hear all the notes and flourishes that the guy played and the tone was great.
I *think* the bassist was Jerry Scheff. Does anyone know what bass(es) he used? Unless I missed it his site said he used an Ampeg B 15 all the time but not much about basses.
I have an old Bass Player around with a Jerry Scheff article that I'll try and dig up... I think that during the Elvis years he was all about the P bass...

I have many pics of Jerry through the Elvis years, and he always had a natural finish P-bass. He was/is a favorite of mine. He'd go nuts on Suspicious Minds and Polk Salad Annie.
