I have seen esperanza in the bay area six times. she is overall more talented than tal.

but tal is more skilled ( at this point) on the EB.

But to be fair Esperanza has only been playing the EB for about two years.(fact)

To see/hear Esperanza or Tal play makes me want to resign from the Mediocre Bassist Club and start a Sub-Mediocre Bassist Club.

Saw her at the Newport Jazz Festival last year. Stellar performance. Perfect singer and mean bass playing.

Esperanza Spaulding is so talented that I cannot imagine anyone who appreciates jazz or popular songs at least not acknowledging her talent even if one doesn't like her style of music. On top of that, I cannot imagine a straight man of any variety not being enchanted by her presence!
