Esperanza Spalding Video

Esperanza Spalding - Black Gold (OFFICIAL) - YouTube

I need to listen to Black radio more often! I'm sure this song has been getting some play since this is Black History Month!

OMG! I am so happy to see Esperanze back on fretless! Lord knows I love her acoustic work, but as a bass guitarist, I love to see a genius like her on my instrument.:hype r:

I happened to catch that video a couple weeks ago when she posted it to her Facebook page! Like cb said, great message and awesome sound with super tasty bass work. I don't normally repost things, but I liked it so much that I actually shared it on my FB page as well.

Hey Doc, Radio Music Society releases March 20th I think and if you go to her site and sign up for her newsletter, you can download another track from it called City of Roses. Another really great track... I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the rest of the album!

I like the message as well. Especially that ALL history needs to be taught and not forgotten about. The betterment of modern civilization and society depends on it.

Nope. Definitely another good one, but this is the one I was talking about:

Esperanza Spalding - City of Roses

That Black Gold Video and the other new Esperanza songs have given me a huge high today! Listening to her music will be a great way to spend time this spring and summer.

Amen to that! I've got her other albums and she's an amazing musician with a great sound. Hearing her new tracks are partial inspiration for my plan to get a new (unlined! ) fretless!

Esperanza Spalding I Can't Help It - YouTube

This is a killer Michael Jackson remake. I know a while back, a lot of guys criticized me when I said that Esperanza Spalding might be the the next great voice on fretless, but I think that may be the case. She certainly could be the greatest voice on fretless in pop or r&b in a very long time.

I'm pretty sure that is her doing the samba style strumming for the into of this song. I really dig her style. When I was coming up, Marcus Miller was about my age, and I always felt that he was what I could have aspired to if I had shedded much more seriously instead of just being a GAS fiend. I guess that if I were young, Esperanza would be my ideal of what a really accomplished player and musician should be.

Esperanza Spalding - Smile Like That - YouTube

This is another one. The vibe her kind of reminds me of early fusion except she is on double bass.

The other singer's name is "Algebra?"

I love Esperanza and the spirit of the song, but honestly could do without the preachy intro. I teach world history and, shall we say, am not too fond of political agendas being used to pressure teaching or not teaching certain things. African material poses a lot of challenges to teach at an introductory level, certainly for earlier periods.

I agree that the intro made some stereotypical ssumptions about history teachers that I did not think were cool, but for once, I am not worrying about the politics, I'm digging on a cool song and sweet bass playing.

She's brilliant, beautiful and can sing her a** off. She is the next bright voice in a lot of areas, and I'm glad that there's a young artist pushing jazz into the national consciousness, even if that's not the point. From the clips, this album is going to blow a lot of people's minds.

I saw that vid last week and I like it! I'm happy to see her doing something that could potentially make R&B radio. Esperanza Rocks!
