You know you want to.

In my corner: Cliff Burton, John Myung, Les Claypool

These three represent the source for pretty much all of my progression in technique and flavor since I plucked my first note 20 years ago.

Honorable mentions: David Ellefson, Christian Olde Wolbers, Peter Steel (C- musician, top notch stage presence)

Jack Bruce, John Entwistle and Felix Pappalardi. They and anybody like them pretty much cover what I'm all about.

As it turns out, Baudin is not only a fantastic musician, but also one hell of a guy. I spent a lengthy period of time talking constant trash on him, now hes on my MySpace friends list.

Like a cucumber, that guy. Also, Entwistle's skills are a step above legendary.

Good call

Tom Jenkinson anyone? I surprisingly never hear about him on TB. Not the greatest, but an innovator nonetheless

Van Conner (Screaming Trees)

His playing on songs like "Standing on the Edge" and "She Knows" really inspired me to pick up the bass. Although the actual sound of the bass is what got me into it, his playing gave me the final push in the right direction.

Mick Grondahl (played with Jeff Buckley)

I have to get around to learning some of his lines. Especially Last Goodbye. Great playing. I wonder where he is today.

Repectable mentions to Jaco, John Patitucci, Louis Johnson and Christian McBride too.

I second Jean Baudin.

Is it true that one of his teachers was Marty Freidman? The same Marty who played with Megadeth?
