Fab Faux on Howard Stern Wednesday

Pants-poopingly brilliant! They did "Sgt. Pepper (Reprise)/A Day In The Life," "Penny Lane," and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." From the looks of the pics on Howardstern.com, Will used a cream colored 4001 with flats, and for my money, I couldn't tell him apart from McCartney. And the arrangements! Holy cow! I don't know how they made 2 string players and 4 horns sound like an orchestra, but they did.

I love the whole concept behind the Fab Faux where they do the music but don't try to be identical to the Beatles with their voices and looks. I've seen a couple Beatlemania shows and that was the one thing I didn't like. It was too much of a copy. The Fab Faux tries to get the arrangements down identically, but rather than be carbon copies, they try to capture the spirit. After hearing them, I can understand why their ticket prices are so ridiculously high. If you missed them on the Stern show, you really missed a treat.

So only two of us on Talkbass like Will Lee? Wow, think how unloved Mike Merritt must feel!

I heard them on Howard a year or so back, just before he left the airwaves, they were amazing. I must see them live soon.

Bah...Howard's the greatest radio personality in history. That's why he can have a band on like the Fab Faux whereas most other radio shows wouldn't have a clue what to do with them.

Name one who's done more. Limbaugh is the closest, but what he does with about 200 stations, Howard did better with about 70 stations. Plus he put satellite radio on the map and singlehandedly saved Sirius from destruction. Not to mention the whole "Vote For Sanjaya" movement which is working beautifully.

But anyway, regardless of whether you like him or not, you have to respect what he's done.

Thumbs up

I've seen them several times, never cease to impress me.

Great band to see live......although I can do without Wil's completely retarded dancing while wearing elton john's old wardrobe.

"Hoo, Hoo Robin, I invented Radio, and the Beatles, and showed Will how to play bass".

Howard who???? Opie and Anthony!

All jokes aside...Will is a great talent and the rest of the Fab Faux are awsome....Glad they got some air play.

Rob

Oh no! An O&A fan at Sadowsky! Oh well, enjoy them while you can. Heads are rolling at CBS Radio, thanks in part to their crappy ratings. But what do you expect from the worst Howard clones in the business who take every opportunity to dump on him while imitating his entire show?

BTW, it's "Hoo Hoo."

Actually they're nowhere near #1 in most major markets. They're currently 21st in NYC. Sorry, I know this is the wrong place for it, but I wasn't real crazy about them bashing me and my podcast and agreeing with some fat psycho teenager who came to my house one day in their name and said that I stole the name from Ron and Fez, which I most certainly didn't. I haven't even heard Ron and Fez since they had the Ron and Ron show in Florida in the 90's. I think O&A are borderline psychotic and they encourage their pest army to do things that is eventually going to result in someone getting killed, especially if they show up unannounced at my house again.

Yep, I heard em on there. I listen to Howard religiously. O&A could only hope to someday be half the radio personality that Howard is.

Ya, really! On the other hand, I like Jim Norton a lot. He's a real funny standup comic. They should give the O&A show to him.

at the risk of turning this into a howard stern bashing/praising thread (oops...too late). no other personality can grab so much attention for a pay service and for those who weren't convinced to pick up sirius by stern, you are REALLY missing out. the music channels are incredible and have no commercials. turn on soul town and just jam along. that alone is worth the price, but add in stern, and booya!

Get past the "entertainment news" portayal of him (listen to the show, and you'll realize the impact of everyone involved in the show is the real attraction), and you'll be greatly rewarded. (side note, O&A are lame HS ripoffs). The HS show's rich historical list of great, great musical guests as performers and/or interviewees *and seemingly most honestly as themselves* is staggering. Don't flame me if you don't know what I'm talking about...

Ya, people who have never heard him have this impression of Howard's show as nothing but dick jokes and lesbians. Don't get me wrong...there are lots of dick jokes and lesbians, but the guy can speak intelligently on a number of topics and his interviews are the best in the business because he can get info from his guests that nobody else can. Sure, his ego has run amok, but like Jaco said, "It ain't bragging if you can back it up."

Ah, so you're one of those fans who hates him but listens. That's OK, he's got a lot of them. Their money spends, too.
