Okay, here's the thing. I've spent a long time avoiding the "standards" when it came to instruments. In my misguided beginnings on bass, I figured that it would be a unique instrument that would define me. Fortunately, after much studio work, performance, and age, I realize I'm wierd enough, no matter what I play
Anyhow, long story short, I've been craving a P-bass as of late. It's just been calling to me, I can't really explain it. Y'see, my favorite tones have all originated out of Jazz Basses, Stingrays, or something comparable to either, and just can't seem to think of any songs or artists that have what I'm looking for.
So, I'm trying to get an idea of the P-bass sound, it's diversity and limitations. Any shout outs would be appreciated

Best P-bass tone this side of Live At Leeds.
Also Dave Hope from Kansas, the perfect P-bass/Ampeg sound. SERIOUSLY under-rated player there.
Good moustache too.

Is it just me or does it sound like on "Train Kept A Rollin'" by Aerosmith there's a P-bass being rocked?
