I havent really listened to nofx since I was in high school. I read about this yesterday. I think the dude is honestly close to suicide, and I don't say that lightly. He seems deeply disturbed, currently.

From Hitthefloor.co.uk:

"NOFX's Fat Mike played a very disturbing set on the final night of South By South West in Texas as 'Cokie The Clown' that I don't think alot of people expected.

Throughout the show Mike told some pretty ****ed up stories about him witnessing a ****, stealing from a friends room who just committed suicide and euthanising his own mother to name a few. As well as this before the show he offered out shots of Tequila to the crowd for them to be shown, as he finished the set, a video of him pi**ing in the very bottle he poured their drinks from."
What a piece of ****.

Wow.

As much as I dislike what he did, and how he is portraying himself, this is one of the "punkest" things I have heard about in a VERY LONG TIME.

I am sure this was all an act, the interview below is from before the show and he cites Andy Kaufman as an influence for his character (character being the key here) "Cokie The Clown" and says in advance that it will not be a normal show.

+1

It's really Andy Kaufman'esque, in a punk rock way.

I'm not really into punk rock nowadays so aside from the songs and the (probably fake) peing, I can appreciate the performance,

He's dressed as a clown, telling his horrible stories to dumb punk rock fans that are just yelling at him for more songs,

It's actually pretty interesting to watch.

It IS an act, come on, the guy is almost 40, is running his own record label and has had a succesfull 20 year career in punk rock... He knows what he's doing...
