What's everyone's favorite Flea bassline? I think mine has to be the one he plays in "Brother's Cup". It's not hard to play really but it's got a great sound.

I vote for "If You Have To Ask" or "Magic Johnson."

I'd have to say the interlude from Fight like A brave is pretty damn cool, but most everything flea does is amazing

mine is easily "soul to squeeze." so melodic... and to think you have to buy the damn coneheads soundtrack to get it.

i think i would have to go with the part from higher ground or give it away...those are both amazing basslines and Flea was my favorite bass player for the longest time...so i basically think anything he plays is godworthy

Cool

There is too many really but if i HAD to pick a few they'd be;-

Power of equality
higher ground
if you want me to stay
johnny kick a hole in the sky
easily
soul to squeeze
my lovely man (Especially in you improvise on the chorus like flea)

I had the same problem as DanceHallCrasher until i discovered the wonderful world of New Artist Program (Napster), am i allowed to say that?

Take Care.

The most tasteful Flea Bassline is "Soul to Squeeze"
A flashy one that kicks ass is "Aeroplane." It's a great tune.
Alltime classic is "Higher Ground"

There are simply too many to list. Almost everything he does is good.

I like Aeroplane. It's a very cool song.
I also like Californication, Around the world and my friends.
Anyway, all the songs that Flea plays are great.

It has to be Higher Ground for me. It sounds great, regardless of how many time I have heard it.
A close 2nd...is Around the World.

In no particular order:

1. 'Aeroplane'
2. 'Under The Bridge'
3. 'My Lovely Man'
4. 'Walkabout'
5. 'I Like Dirt'
6. 'Coffee Shop' - The very flash, funky part that comes in at around the 1.30 mark.

Osama-
You mentioned "If You Want Me To Stay", right?
Flea plays that line pretty much verbatim from the Sly Stone album, FRESH. Cool tune, though!

I keep forgettin' about "Soul To Squeeze"...great tune & nice melodic playing by Flea. I also like "Show Me Your Soul" from THE PRETTY WOMAN soundtrack(I never did see that flick...trust me!)
How 'bout Alanis' "You Oughta Know"? B-A-D!
"Aeroplane" is cool; I really like the style of "Walkabout", "Funky Monks", "Apache Rose Peacock", "Mommy, Where's Daddy", etc...mostly the finger funk stuff(I guess).

ok then ear we go...

sir psycho sexy - just the funkiest song they ever did.

if you have to ask - nice rolling mellow deep line
outro to funky monks - total and utter genius, groove beyond groove!
soul to squeese - THE melody
mellowship slinky in blah, blah, blah - real goddam funky
knock me down - just damned nice i think

there's another but I cant remember the name of the song...errr....

blackeyed blonde - real perucssive slap
love trilogy - just plain mad, really tense build-up

i could go on and on and on. I've been a RHCP fan for more than 1/2 my life, since before i started playing bass. i love 'em.
