That simple boogie feel that's punctuated by those fast descending lines that NEVER sound flashy nor self-serving, but always sound just so RIGHT. That's the key to Sklar's playing no matter the artist. It's just right for the song.
Second place goes to... aw heck, I can't choose between "Doin' The Meatball", "Sporadic Vacuums of Thought", "Dock Of The Bay" (all from The Section's album commonly called "the pie album"), James Taylor's "Your Smiling Face", or any of the other gazillion recordings he's done...
John

Kinda like the old Motown guys used to do (My Girl, etc...) |

With the right stereo speakers, you hear how the lowest notes are put in just the perfect places and in MHO make the song. I think that's Lee? No? |

Seriously, I have always liked this bass line......
I agree that there are far too many Lee bass lines that would take to long to mention.

| | | | I saw the recording is a synth...that said-
Around here, mid-'80s, a Top-40 band with Oteil Burbridge on bass played "Sussudio" when it was popular. Oteil killed it.

Have you checked out the Marvin Gaye version?

Just checked the liners on the LP-
No bassist is listed. David Frank (of The System) is listed on "Mini-Moog Bass".

Apparently I need to listen to more of Lee's stuff before I go "informing" anyone! THe problem is that he is on such an extensive catalogue of songs and some of it I will only listen to to hear him and can't really stand the song itself. I appreciate the expansion of my horizons though.
