Favorite Leon Wilkeson lines?

One of my main influences. For those of you who don't know, he was the main bass player for Lynyrd Skynyrd. The album(s) he didn't play in, he wrote the bass lines for the other to play. Really bringing up the low-end in the Southern rock scene.

I don't think I can name a favorite, but he has one of my favorite bass tones of all time. Absolutely massive and completely tuneful.

From what I've always heard, Ed King came up with the lines on the first album on his own. The only thing Leon came up with on that album was the first part of the bassline to Gimme Three Steps.

Tuesday's Gone. Love his high register stuff. Leon had one of my favorite recorded bass tones ever.

Gimme 3 Steps is a favorite of mine as well. I have grown to loathe the song from way too many times of playing it in mediocre cover bands, but there is definitely a lot of bass goodness there to dig in to.

Gimme Three Steps, one of the best played bass line in southern rock. Great practice warm up too.

Check out Trust and also check out Crossroads from One More For/From The Road.Leon came up with some really imaginative bass parts.Watch the Old Grey Whistle Test videos from You Tube to see him play the Fenderbird that Entwistle gave him.
