Although he's far from being "new", Juan Alderete is my favorite. |

Tim Commerford - Audioslave
Juan Alderete - The Mars Volta
Drew Roullette - dredg
Mike Todd - Coheed & Cambria
Bob Hardy - Franz Ferdinand
Brandon Curtis - Secret Machines
Troy Sanders - Mastodon
If we were extending back to the 90s as well, I would include Chris Wolstenholme of Muse (because they put out their first album in the mid-late 90s, and were around for longer than that), Dave Meros of Spock's Beard (who is god), Les Claypool of Primus, and both Justin Chancellor and Paul D'amour of Tool. And Tim Commerford again, but for his work in Rage Against the Machine. OH, and Colin Edwin of Porcupine Tree. |

He's even been around way too long.
I heard some kid at the music store that was like "Beedle bop bop ka slap beek bonk."
I don't know his name, but he's my new favorite.

Far from it, Racer X were one of the best things to come out of 80s metal, alongside Metallica, Fates Warning, Queensryche, Dream Theater, and a handful of others who tended to avoid getting labeled "classic rock", a la Quiet Riot and Ratt and Bon Jovi. |
