Feeder's bass player Taka Hirose

Tell me seriously, does this guy know anything other than eighth notes? Because that's all he ever seems to play, and not only just eighth notes, they are all usually eighth notes around the box chord C - B - G - A. Perhaps he just got lucky, or perhaps Feeder are really not all that good. I'll go for the latter answer.

Never heard of feeder...and what's a box chord?
Sometimes simple is better anyway...

I'd say that the reason he ends up playing the same thing over and over could have something to do with feeder churning out the same music for years....

Okay, so Feeder are a crap band. Does that warrant a thread though? If I made threads like this about every naff bassist/band I've ehard over the years, we'd be here till well past teatime...

Interestingly, 'Just a Day' has some non-root bass going on, some of it fairly interesting (relatively speaking) if you listen hard enough. Why just on that song and nothing anywhere else is a wee bit odd.

Perhaps it's becuase that and Buck Rogers are the only tunes that hint that Feeder might have a slither of talent?

Their first two albums, Swim and Polythene, have much more interesting bass playing than any of their more recent stuff, including lots of bass melody stuff and some slapping. Better songs, too... they actually had a bit of an "edge" back in those days.

I totally agree his playing is quite inconsistent, in terms of quality.
