| | | | He's Jaco's son they said, and also, they are normal height...lol, about 5'10 I think. They joked about how huge he was. Just look at the guy's hands on that 6 string! |

When it comes to Felix, he shares some of his dad's finger style but can slap the face off of a bass too. Both were great guys too. And, yes, Felix is tall. We played some festival type games at the camp and we did this thing where teams of 7 tied all their legs to each other and had to walk/run across a field. I was next to him and he had me by a few inches. And I'm 6'1". Hard to believe that was so long ago. That camp was a few weeks before 9-11 (the actual day of the attack). Time flies.
If you get a chance to see them play, do it. Felix has some of Jaco's mannerisms as well. It's almost like watching a young Jaco. There are differences of course, but similarities as well.

He and Roy Wooten played amazingly well together, and the whole group was great. I honestly hadn't heard of him before last night, but I doubt I'll ever forget him now - he really sounds great. The band were great guys, too - after playing the hit at the university, they all came out to our late gig at a local bar for a nice hang, and stayed the entire time, too. I love it when great players are also nice people. |

I've seen all the Wooten's together a few times and I swear that has probably gotta be one of the most musical families. And that's the beauty of these players, they just love to play. They'll play 4 hour shows then goto a local bar and sit in with the band there. I opened for Hypnotic Clambake probably 10 years ago at a club. They all came to our community house to party and crash afterwards and we all ended up jamming until 5am. It was a sick 12 person jam that in retrospect I wish I had recorded. I let Q jam on bass most of the time while I played djembe and other drums. When a bassist of his caliber is there to play, sometimes ya just gotta kick back and enjoy and learn.

The guys were just as you say. I didn't ask Felix to sit in at the late gig because I don't think he plays double bass, but I sure would have if he'd had his bass with him. |
