How shocked would we all be if he put out an actual good record and even more shocking if he is actually good?

KORN bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu is putting the finishing touches on a new solo album, "Bassically", which he hopes to release later this year. He tells AOL's Noisecreep, "I'd say it's like a jazz fusion funk type of thing. Real new age, too. Different kinds of music.

He adds, "I've always wanted to do it. When I was younger, learning bass, I listened to a lot of bass albums; Stanley Clarke, I grew up listening to that type of stuff."

"I don't want people to be confused and buy it and not like it. It's not heavy," he emphasizes. "I don't want people to get it and think, 'Man, I can't believe I bought this crap'. It's not meant to be heavy. If you like heavy and are not open-minded, you will not like this."

For the upcoming CD, Fieldy multi-tracked lead and rhythm parts using a 15-string bass, stand-up bass and fretless bass.

"It's insane, man. I did so many lead tracks and rhythm tracks," he tells Noisecreep. "Sometimes, it's chaotic. It kinda takes you on a ride through the CD, so you can have a mellow funk track next to a chaotic bunch of basses going crazy. Right now, I have 11 songs finished. I might do two more, but it's pretty much done."

He did good work with korn. It just wasn't the best of his abilities. He's actually a good bassist in my opinion, he just seems kinda lazy.

I doubt I would enjoy it (doesn't sound like my type of music), but I'm sure it will be better than what he does in Korn based on that little tidbit of info.

I'll second the lazy part. Feidly is just another guy, he puts his pants on leg at a time just like Stanley Clarke does. Although Stan it seemed finishes putting his patns on and this goofball still has not. Either way, its like teachers always said about me "He could be so talented if he just applied himself". Maybe he has.

Oh it will be fusion alright...

a fusion of "retarded" and "awful to listen to".

I give you the extent of his "bass playing":

I'm definitely going to have to check this out. His 15-string bass looks sick.

That was bad. The comments were hilarious! I have heard that he's a decent player, but he doesn't apply himself with the Korn stuff. I'd be interested in hearing this album.

well, i have little faith in anything that I personally would consider "worthwhile" coming out of this guy, but honestly you could do the same thing (loop a few bars of a percussive "slap and pop" section) with any random funk line from the seventies by many of the guys people here seem to worship and make them appear just as foolish.

just sayin'.

I'm not sure what to think...I'll be very surprised if he actually know how to play upright.

Not gonna lie, though - I'll probably check it out for sheer curiosity.

I never really payed much attention to Korn musically when I was younger, but I recently went back and listened to a couple of those songs and I can appreciate his style of playing. A lot of the time the guitars where just adding texture and atmosphere, leaving the drums and bass as main instruments and Fieldy's tone brings a really unique sound to the band. The moment you hear that bones-rattling-in-a-glass-jar tone you know who it is. Not a sound or style I would ever emulate, but something different still, and I can respect him for that.

And I'll be checking out this album when it comes out for sure. I'm curious now.

Don't know how the album'll turn out but I hate the name "Bassically". The pun is too cliche.
