Finger-style Jazz bassists sought (4 string pref)

Sign in to disble this ad
I have recently made some amazing discoveries of some really great Jazz bass guitar players and just wanted to see if there is anyone I am missing.

I play both 4 and 5 string and also upright, but I must say that my somewhat modified 65 pbass (sacrilege I know) is by far my favorite and the instrument that I am most comfortable with.

Anyhow I have been listening to:

Jeff Andrews
Jeff Berlin
Avishai Cohan
Steve Swallow

Any others out there? (past or present)

Jaco? who is that?

(just kidding)

Of course he is at the top of my list. I have just thought of another one - Jack Bruce.

CAB

Check out CAB, Bunny Brunel and Tony MacAlpine. Bunny is a smokin fretless player and Tony is no slouch.

Oh, Bunny plays a 5'er. Oh well, worth a listen anyway.

One of my favorite CDs - Gadd is putting on a *clinic* on that one, too!

Will Lee on the album he did with his dad called 'BirdHouse', excellent straight ahead playing from one of the greats of electric bass.

I found a good way to purchase cd's, especially a lot of the ones on TB, as they are not regular stock, is through iTunes. All you need is an iTunes card, although I'm not sure how difficult that is to get in Nigeria.
