FINGERSTYLE Punk bassists

Sign in to disble this ad
Only ones i know are:

Matt Riddle (No Use For A Name)
Guy from Lagwagon
Dude from Hot Water Music.

These guys are the only 3 i know who play punk fingerstyle, i think its a rarity to see a punk playing fingerstyle.
But mention all of those guys you know about!

peace

P.S. Matt Riddle plays with two or three fingers?

Nope, Lally plays witha a pick on Musicman Stingray. But he plays (like flea said) "big, warm, reggae-like basslines" and that's why it sounds like he's playing with fingers.

And Mike Watt is damn awesome.

Lally also plays a jazz bass too on occasion.

I can't for the life of me remember any other acts that play fingerstyle predominantly.

Yeah, seriously. I just rediscovered In On The Kill Taker, my favorite Fugazi record from way back, and damn if they don't have some incredible tones.

I believe Jonathan Gallant from Billy Talent wrote an article for bass player magazine about being a finger style punk bassist, I know the first Billy Talent album is all finger style

I meant to say sometimes uses his fingers. He uses both depending on the song. Sometimes he does both within the same song.

Also, Kira Roessler. She played with Black Flag and also collaborated on a project with Watt.

I know there are more...but I just can't think of any at the moment. Fingerstyle punk bassists are rare. It's a shame.
