+1 That's quite an unusual DB. I assume the 5th string is a high C, which results in that very 'cello like' tone on the bowed segments of the solo. Quite amazing!

While not strictly pure flamenco, the band Carmen nicely fused flamenco with rock back in the seventies. John Glascock's bass work was incredible. Fandangoes In Space, their first album, is a prog masterpiece.

I used to have that album!I totally forgot about them.I remember there was a tune that had this great flamenco tap dancing as a drum part.Really cool.I'll have to check out if there is anything on CD available by them.

I just watched the whole Chick Corea Live in barcelona DVD.
Very cool stuff. I'm not so familiar with carlos benavent's music.Has he always played with a pick?Very interesting style but at times I wish he had a little fatter bottom. It's almost like Chick could have added another bassplayer in addition to Carlos. Maybe it's the way it was mixed and I'll check out the CD too, but it's like there is some punch lacking in the sound of the band.Chick is of course incredible his playing as well as the compositions. It's amazing how much on top of his game he still is.Maybe I'll have to look into this Scientology thing and then I could be that good too
