Does anybody else prefer his fingerstyle tone over his slap tone or is it just me.

Damn! Beat me to it.

Actually I have no preference, his tone seems to compliment whatever playing style he employs at the time.

I don't really like his tone. But I prefer his fingerstyle's tone to his slap tone

I agree with ya buddy!

Flea is a great bassist for all reasons, his amazing slap skill, his lead playing ability, good bass line writing but also he knows when to ease of the slap to help with guitar melody or vocals, let the other guys do their thing,

Thats why i have a lot of respect for him, i love the chillies but i play in a rock band and i try to match his tone with my stringray and P-bass, it just works

His Tone is great no matter what he does.. Pick..fingers or slap... - More WHAT he plays than how in my opinion, he knows when to just support rather than lead.
