Okay, I know most of you are gonna say use the search function, but if I typed in "Flea" or "slap" or both, I'd get endless results. Anyway, I heard that Flea slaps/pops so hard he gets holes in his finger tips that he has to fill with superglue, sounds crazy but it could be true, is it?

also a great way to see a young john "greenie" frusciante before he turned into a dirty hippie degenerate |

If Flea is making holes in his fingers, I'd say he's slapping a little too hard. |

From my understanding, Superglue works wonders for the gigging bassist. And of course, Duct Tape can solve just about any problem in itself. Getting back on topic, Flea has stated before that his slapping is not what most would consider "proper technique", and he does quite enjoy digging in his fingers as hard as he can when he's playing.

I dunno, some nurse from vietnam came to our school and told us that. I'm not sure if its true or not.
edit: according to Wikipedia, it is true: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krazy_Glue
read the medicine section

| | | | krazy glue uses different formula than those in medical usage. If you're gonna use krazy glue, make sure it doesn't get into your blood stream since it's toxic. |

back to flea his slap style is very loose and 'sloppy' but it is still cool (he uses a claw shape with his hand over the strings pointed towards the neck instead or a thumbs up buddy christ style) and its VERY easy to get carried away and rip fingers to bits esp with steel strings and a low action | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
