Frank Blair contacts?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey

I am looking for contact (preferably e-mail address) for a guy called Frank Blair who played mostly on Marvin Gaye and Robert Palmer records.

His were among the first bass lines I really loved and transcribed. Anyone else heard of the guy?

He's probably not a marketing expert (probably doesn't need to be with his credits) so he has no websites or other forums. At least Google search did not help me a bit.

Cheers
MH

dayym. would like to ask a lot of stuff about this guy. he's been around forever, pumping out effortless, amazing and inspiring basslines. nice tones too, a lot of different ones!

Pity that guys such as this are so not into self-pimping that you can't even find a laid back website or a Wikipedia entry, while a lot of self proclaimed teachers litter YouTube with sh*tty performances and "lessons"

hi there Mad Hungarian,

Indeed frank Blair isnt really out there on the net it seems. i too, was trying to find more on him. I fully agree he's a killer bassplayer. the only thing i recently found on Frank is a DVD of him performing with Marvin. Its called marvin Gaye Live montreux 1980. You can see Frank on here doing his thing and he even gives away a solo. Another fine bassplayer in this style is mr Willie Weeks...

All the best.

Here is a video of him playing in Florida in August of 2011. You can probably contact the singer through youtube.

That was Chuck Rainey on the track I Want You( by Marvin Gaye).

But Frank Blair is on some of the tracks from that album.

Frank Blair a killer bass player for sure.
Here he is on a Marvin Gaye track called Funk Me.

The album Funk Me is off might not have been a hit (it was the one just before his comeback I think), but the bass playing was great, and often quite unique sounding to me when I first heard it.

The entire album In Our Lifetime is an album all bass players should seriously give a listen to.
