How many of you have heard of him, or heard his playing?
I mean, i read about him about 10 years ago in some bass magazine...I am now fortunate enough to have him teaching me at Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK this year.
I walked into a little pub where a few of the tutors and students were playing and I was floored...In lessons you really don't get to see someones true ability.
This man is a monster monster fretless player...and he only plays a squier for god's sake. Proof that the tools don't matter. He must easily one of the best fretless players around... Read Fred's Wiki

Very cool stuff, excellent fretless solo in that one particular song. Great tone too.

Saw Fred recently - in Ballymoney - with the Lianne Carroll Trio. He was fantastic. He has moved on from the Squire to a Custom job. Jazz style - exotic woods, etc. He told me what pickups he was using, but, I don't seem to have that information anymore. My short term memory isn't what it... What was I saying again?

EDIT: Oh yeah, he wanted my '89 green MIJ jazz and my '99 white MIM jazz when I was having lessons...the guy plays a MIJ Squier fretless jazz from 81-82...I've just recently found a new point of contact for him outside of huddersfield uni
