Fredrik Thordendal of Meshuggah

I know he's not a bassist (actually in the studio he is), but what does TB think of this heavy metal genius. His guitar work is mindblowing, some of the most extraterrestrial improvising I've ever heard. I find him to be very influential, but of course some aspects of his playing are a bit beyond me...

i think he is amazing, his solo album (fredrik thordendals special defects) showcases his amazing guitar skills better than meshuggah.

It's a good one for sure. The solo on Closed Eye Visuals has to be one of the best guitar solos I've ever heard regardless of genre.

Thordendal is amazing. I'm not really into really down-tuned death metal, but Meshuggah is amazing. Some of the stuff they do is almost too weird to understand rythmically.

He is simply of the best comtemporary guitarrists alive. You should give a close listen to his solo CD, Sol Niger Within.
