I'm pretty sure Hot Pants Road by the J.B.s was played with a flat pick.

Did Tommy Cogbill use a pick? If so, he should be on the list for any number of tunes.

Check out the thousands of hits recorded by Carol Kaye, she always played with a pick, pretty tough to beat!

Black Dog is awesome, but I would not call it funky. JPJ could definitely get funky though, "Ramble On" is a good example.

JPJ is all funk. I think Black Dog is pretty damn funky though, but we all got our own opinions.

Rod Ellicott playing with Cold Blood back in the day - another Bay Area bassist who doubtless knew both Rocco and Vega:

Check out the bass solo that starts at about 3:13

Ellicott and Vega are my all time favorite pick players!
