Who would you say is the funkiest White bass player you have met? I am hoping the subject doesn't touch anyone's tender spots considering how I worded it (which btw was totally "innocent" as it were!) Someone who you would guess was a Black bassist w/o seeing them, but who turned out to be White, Latin, Indian, East Indian, Middle Eastern, etc. |

I've never met Rocco, but my vote goes to him.

Gary Willis on Tribal Tech stuff.
Duck Dunn, on the Stax/Volt sides.
(OP said "you've met," but I take it that's not a requirement..? These are funky players I've copped stuff from.)
Oh, yeah--on some cuts, Jaco had cool fingerstyle funk.
Um...Doug Johns on Pocket Fulla Nasty.

Jim is a killer bassist and super cool guy, met him in Indy in 2005 during a lame attempt at NAMM trying to move the summer show there...
DDD's work with Blues Bros and Booker T is killer.
Also David Hood from Muscle Shoals and Carl Radle.... |

My Vote goes to Neil Jason from the Brecker Brothers doing Some Skunk Funk live at the North Sea Festival ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IAm0FyDnnM). Go to 5:30 in the clip. Wooten before Wooten could walk.
Watch and funk.
You're welcome.
