A Game: Suggest some bassists to cover these songs

Those of you who have this know what a great album, chock full of great play, music, and compositions this is.

Jaco Pastorius Big Band- The Word Is Out!
1. Dania (Gerald Veasley)
2. Las Olas (Israel Lopez, Jr.)
3. Sirabhorn (Mark Egan)
4. Beaver Patrol (Victor Wooten)
5. Cannonball (Richard Bona)
6. Kuru / Speak Like A Child (Jimmy Haslip)
7. Three Views Of A Secret (Oteil Burbridge/Jeff Carswell)
8. Blackbird / Word Of Mouth (Richard Bona)
9. Good Morning Anya (Richard Bona)
10. River People (Will Lee)
11. Reza (Jaco Pastorius)

I thought of a game. If you know the album and songs, pick one bass player who ISN'T already featured here, and let us know what one song you think they would sound best performing on this album if there was a "Word Is Out 2!" album hypothetically available.

I'll go first. I think Mark King (Level 42) would do a HECK of a job doing "Beaver Patrol". Hopefully some of you out there will agree with me on this, and offer up your own good suggestions for fun. This is supposed to be fun.

What say you?

The Word Is Out! is the #2!
The 1st album is- Word Of Mouth Revisited

"Wiggle Waggle" from this album is Jaco playing along with the Big band (thanks to technology). It's a ripping version, too.

I'm a little surprised (then again, maybe not)...no Gary Willis or Jeff Berlin on either of these albums.

Cool. Good suggestion. And surprised no Gary Willis or Jeff Berlin, too.

Anyone else?

Sure surprised more Jaco fans aren't jumping on this. Seems like when someone complains about him (and I'm not going to do that), they jump out of the woodwork and decend on the offending TB thread like a hive of locusts!

Maybe I should have renamed the thread: These bassists play Jaco's songs as well as Jaco?

Michael Manring, an admitted Jaco fanatic, is also a glaring omission.
Tommy Kennedy, too.

Yiorgos Fakanas, recently featured in Bass Player (Anthony Jackson cover) would do very well on a Jaco (Big Band) tribute.

Mike Pope, too...although IIRC, he was used on a Weather Report tribute disc from a few years back (I do recall not liking this disc as it veered too much into Smooth, or as Jerry sez..."Happy" Jazz-ville).

This Jaco tribute disc from 2000 wasn't too bad.

Will Lee sounds good on "Come On, Come Over".
