Gary Sinese

Saw Gary Sinese tonight with the Lt. Dan Band. He's the bassist, and I was surprised at how good he was--he's the real deal as a bass player and I was pretty impressed. He played a Cort artisan bass through an SWR SM-900/Megalith cab. They do USO tours on the bases, and this was their third trip to 29 Palms. They particularly rocked through Baba O'Reilly and Sweet Home Chicago.

Check them out if you get a chance.

Scott

That's funny. I saw him play on CSI in a jass club and I was positive he was faking it. Looked like he was anyways.

Good for him.

Yeah that's what I was referring to - Forest Gump. I had no idea that he had a Lt. Dan Band.

I saw that episode as well, he looked like he was 'acting' on bass. I thought the same.

Talking about actor musicians... Steven Segal is touring the UK with his band......

Kinda funny..he just played a concert here today at the Pentagon --where I work--thought id see if there were any threads here about him..sure enough. He does play very well..nicely in the pocket. Sound man sucked though could barely hear him..they had a arena style stage and PA and all you could really hear in the mix was the drums and vocals..you'd think it being "Gary Sinese Lt Dan Band" he'd be prominent in the mix..oh well. Didnt surprise me he was good though many actors dabble in the other art mediums.

Nice. You're just up the road from me. I work in beautiful downtown Suitland. You should have called me. I'm the lead sound man at my church and an aspiring bassist. I'd have made sure he could be heard.

I actually went to see Segal play at the River Rock Casino when he was here in Vancouver. He's pretty weird now, and for some reason he kept talking to the crowd with some sort of a jamaican accent.

One of the guitarists in our band is named Dan. He's a decorated Vietnam vet, where he was, you guessed it, a Lieutenant. We both served near the same small town in 'Nam (Pleiku), although we didn't know each other at the time. I often call him "Lieutenant Dan". At a recent practice, he showed me a handbill his wife had picked up for him. It was advertising an appearance by Gary Sinise's "Lieutenant Dan Band". We got a kick out of it, although I had to get a little dig in. I told him that the "other" Lieutenant Dan was cooler, because he's a bass player.

Gary is also awesome in Mission to Mars- if you're ever at Disney World in Orlando, do the ride. The flight simulation is unreal.
