| It was great! Unfortunately Willis was a little late, but he made up for it with some great playing. He brought a laptop and played along with some tunes (Bowlegged, The Chicken, Have You Met Miss Jones, Inner Urge, Norwegian Wood) and he also played some grooves in keys randomly chosen by the audience. He discussed some soloing ideas using the C-7 to F-7 from Blue Bossa much like his contribution to that "Lessons With The Greats" instructional book. Willis emphasized playing melodic shapes based on arpeggios and short motifs and then memorizing the geometry of the shape in relation to the fretboard.
His bass preamp wasn't working right so he played in passive mode into an Aguilar DB750 and a couple of GS112 speaker cabinets.
He answered questions from the audience and threw some Ibanez shirts out. He also said that he had never been in a bass store as big and impressive as the Atlanta Bass Gallery gave props to Jim for his contribution to the bass community.
