Finally, some Gary Willis coverage in Bass Player.

Check out the new issue (Jan, 2001) page 32.

Some nice little transcriptions too.

...yep, Tribal Tech puts out a pretty killin' album of some "improvised in-the-studio" grooves & some guy named Geddy Lee cops the cover.
Willis also made an appearance in BASS PLAYER when BENT was released; Les Claypool-something or other made that cover.

Gary is one of those guys who can just appear to effortlessly play his ass off. There aren't many guys in his league, maybe a handful.

Would it have killed them to put him on the cover (and not just an inset...the big picture)?

I think BP uses a rotating file and people just keep reappearing on a periodic basis. I recently went through an old, early 90's, BP which had an article about Willis and also one about Sara Lee in the same issue. Lee is also in the latest issue with Willis. Coincidence?
