I always thought that "Red Sector A" was inspired by the concentration camps, I never suspected it was based on actual experiences of a family member. Makes the song even more powerful.

Very cool article. I remember reading that Red Sector A was about a concentration camp, I just never knew it was based on his mother's experiences.

I first read that article a few years ago. It made me cry to think that one result of that horrible event (the Holocaust) was a marriage which produced a musician who has influenced my life so much, not to mention millions of other people all around the world.

Unbelievable that it's been like 65 years since WWII. It's unbelievable that something like that could have happened so close to today. That's an evil you'd think would have happened in the Dark Ages. But then again, it wasn't that long since European countries even gave a crap about human rights at all. Their governments have been responsible for most of the most unspeakable evils on this planet. People are talking about Bush like he's really evil, but no matter what you think of him (personally it's not highly), he's got nothing on the European leaders of old. There was some unspeakable evil going on in Europe for centuries. Sometimes I wonder if Hitler was even the worst of it. The Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, all the wars England started, the constant oppression of the citizens. They had balls calling it civilization.

Sorry for the rant...I'm still a little sick and haven't been able to do much moving for the past 10 days, and now I'm finally getting better and I'm shot out of a cannon at 4 am.

The Haulocost had such an impact on survivors, it really is a moving story.

Funny to think now that the State of Isreal is at war with almost every other country in its near vicinity, and has the reputation of the world Capital of Phone sex.

Good article, I like how they mention New World Man before Tom Sawyer!

I think it's quite a shame that after Grace Under Pressure was finished Geddy wanted to move away from it as quickly as possible, due to their being so many negative things during it's conception and recording. It really does have some fantastic songs on it!

Similar things are happening still today. I'm not going to comment your post more, though I'd like to, since it is way offtopic.
