Sign in to disble this ad
from my MySpace inbox:

"Tune in tonight! Comedy Central’s ‘The Colbert Report’ will showcase a rare TV performance by Rush. The band will be performing their song ‘Tom Sawyer’. This will be the first time in thirty years that Rush will perform in front of a national television audience. ‘The Colbert Report’ airs at 11:30pm EST ."

I know Colbert is a fan.

Watching it on YouTube tomorrow morning will not be same.

Enjoy.

Only 1 song? So they are really gonna set up Alex's 4 full stacks and whole pedal board, Neil's 3,000 piece kit and Geddy's keyboards and chicken roasters for only one song?

Why do you ask?

You come off as assuming that they need all of that absolutely any time they play live.

Have you seen Rush on this tour? Geddy's chicken roaster make the ultimate bass tone. Would you really wanna give up a great bass tone just for some tv show?

That was meant to be a joke. About what I posted first. Plus they should play a couple of songs not just Tom Sawyer. They are touring Snakes and Arrows why not play Far Cry?

wha?

Gotta help me out here...what is the "chicken roaster" and how does it relate to bass tone?

I personally would go with the washer and dryer backline instead of the stacks, but not everyone would get the joke

Besides, something tells me Geddy and the boys will not be humping gear, they've got about 30 road toads for that!

Makes his tone "crisp", yet still oh so savory and "juicy".

Almost every band plays just one song when they go on a TV show now...

I am wondering why Rush is doing this particular show... although with their collective goofy humor... I am sure we are in for a real treat.

Yes, they did the whole setup...

They also cut the song short. Yeah, I know they can't let them play forever, but what the **** is the point of booking them if you won't let them play a single song all the way through?

Disappointing. What little they did broadcast sounded great though.

Awesome!

They couldn't play the whole song... time constraints. I liked the interview. Neil telling Colbert not to sell his hand on eBay was hilarious.

At least they made a joke out of how long their songs are.

All-in-all, a good performance... by both Rush and Colbert.

I am on the lookout for a Colbert/Rush TShirt!

Geddy's voice has aged, but he still does a damn fine job.
