I'm a bit of a baseball nut, like playing it and watching it. Here in Toronto, we have the Blue Jays. Yah, they are not having a good year, but as I am watching the game, I notice in the seats, right behind home plate, there's a guy who looks like Geddy. I understand he's a big baseball nut and this isn't the first time I've seem him there, actually probably like the 5th time this year I've seen him in those seats.
Kinda cool to see a local hero enjoying his favorite sport!

Yeah, he is a big Blue Jays fan. When they had the All-Star game in Toronto in the early 90s, he sang the national anthem for Canada (I don't remember if he also the sang the U.S. anthem or not). It is pretty cool to know that there are famous people who watch their local teams in cities besides L.A. and New York.

Surprisingly (being that he is Canadian, you'd think he'd be more into hockey) he does appear to be a big pretty big baseball fan. When he was in Detroit a few years ago, he showed up at a Tigers game too. He is to baseball what Mike Meyers is to hockey.

Although I think Geddy digs hockey too- I can't remember what album it was, but there was a credit in the liner notes to long time Maple Leaf center Pete Zezel (RIP, Pete).

from what i understand a pretty well known pro hockey player came from the same neighborhood as geddy and alex (willow dale). his career coincided with their early 80's stuff, and he got some props on a few albums, like mp and signals, iirc.

geddy lee also donated the single largest collection of signed baseballs to the negro baseball league HOF museum. they have a "geddy lee collection" display there. it's really cool.

here's a story about it...

I was at the game last night. When they put Geddy on the Jumbotron and the crowd starts applauding, a couple in their sixties sitting behind me says "who the hell is that??". I turned around and say "It's Geddy Lee from Rush!". Blank stares. "You know.. Geddy Lee from the legendary Canadian rock band Rush!!" More blank stares. Oh nevermind.. :

Early Rush hockey shout out: Steve Shutt from I think Im going bald

As for baseball, the band used to schedule shows in Florida around Spring training when they toured more frequently... saw them several times then ('80s), and when spring rolled around I would start looking for Rush
