I haven't really met a Geddy sound I didn't like, but some stand out more than others for me.

I like his 2112 sound.
I like the new album,overall

But I think my overall favorite tones center around the Permanent Waves/Moving Pictures era.

I didn't mind the Steinberger era, but it wasn't really standout for me, either.

Sounded good on the Power Windows tour with that material.

Tracks 2-6 on Signals. Unbelievable songs and tone. Not sure what his setup was then.

The entire Hemispheres album has a great tone. I've always wondered if he had already modded the Rick he had with a Badas$ Bridge when they recorded that album.

He put a Badass I bridge on his early 70's 4001 inbetween All The World's A Stage and A Farewell To Kings. The second Rick he got... (the one without the white surround around the Badass)... he must have modified right away (or did Rickenbacker do it for him...secretly) and I'm not sure what tracks on Hemispheres he used it for. I also have read that he used a 4002 for the entire titletrack, so I'm not totally sure what bass was used for what and I'd bet that Geddy himself would have to do some thinking about that.

To me, his tone on Exit...Stage Left is the best.

This is Geddy's best tone, even though I thing this song is pretty crummy on the album version.

I'd say his tone on 1981's live album "Exit stage left" was one of his best overall tones, specifically on La Villa Strangiato

I agree with the Exit stage left tone. Actually one half of that record was from the permanent waves tour, the other half from the moving pictures tour. But yea that tone on that album, that thunk and clunk just sits right .
BTW the whole signals album is an extension of the ESL tone. Even though that album doesnt hold up as well as the others, his ric tone was amazing on signals. Check out his sound during the chorus parts of "countdown" at 1:56 then again from 5:15 to the end of song

No, just 1/4 of ESL is from the Permanent Waves tour.
