Of the three, I chose Cinderella Man.

But I think Geddy's tone on the Rush In Rio live album is sexy as hell.

The Jazz bass through a miked SVT on "Animate" was the pinacle of the "Geddy Lee sound." Since then, his DI mix of SansAmp, U5 and Palmer units sound like a glass man farting on a chainsaw.

Greetings from the North,

My fave Geddy tone is from 'Lake Side ParK'. It is so Bootyfull! Yup! I like the ole 'P' and Ric stuff the best.

Haha, thats one way to explain his tone.
Some people absolutley love that sound. But in my opinion, it doesn't matter if its a glass man farting on a chainsaw or springs sizzling in a frying pan, the one thing I am certain is it does not sound like a bass guitar.
At least not a real one.

He's got way better control over his tone lattely im glad to say.

I love Geddy's playing but have always hated his tone. Too much treble. It sounds tinny but it cuts through the mix better than any other bass player.

Only if you grew a mullet (or raccoon hat-do) and wore the jacket with the "big shoulders". Hey, wasn't that the name of a Rush song? Just kidding, but put me down for Free Will.

His tone on The Analog Kid is my favourite. I think Signals actually has his best tone, even though it's not as good as Moving Pictures. It sounds (to me) a little fuller and warmer.

Alex wore a powder blue "Miami Vice" type outfit occasionaly on that tour. It was definately a 'transition' period for the band in 1985-86. Neil still had the double bass kit though.

Most definitely "Farewell to Kings" and "Hemispheres" albums I'm most fond of as far as his Rick tone.
Rush was my first concert I saw and that was back in 1978 on the "Farewell to Kings" tour.
at Denver Auditorium, Uriah Heep opened up for them and they where awesome too.

I honestly love the tone off the first album, Precision run wide open into either Sunns or Ampegs. And ultimately, I really love his tone off Fifth Order of Angels. So raunchy. I believe that's still the Precision, though it might just be the Ric, I forget the dating.

Fifth Order of Angels is a Rickenbacker, because if I remember correctly, Geddy purchased his Rick in July of 1974, and Fifth Order was recorded in August

I wish there was a way to apply the bass tone from Signals to the songs from Moving Pictures. It would be perfect.

My favorite tone for Geddy, pretty much all the songs on the album Exit Stage Left. Great live tone in my opinion.

One of the best reasons why I loved the sound in MP, was because the "ratty" sound did not shine through until alex took a solo, or YYZ, otherwise there was an illusion of moderate OD......although
it was there all the time, probably had more to do with the mixing of that album though........

I suppose that could be the case. I just figured once Ged bought the Rick that was his primary.

The sound of the entire album is great. I'm a bassist, so I love Geddy's sound, but the sound of Neil's kick drums make my Levi's feel tight and strange.
