I was just watching myself some Heaven & Hell vids on YouTube, when I came across a quite recent video of H&H playing Follow the Tears, and was surprised to see Geezer playing a 5-string Lakland bass.

Wow, heavy is just never heavy enough with Sab. Damn, I mean, DAMN! Is this off of a new CD? I know Dio died, R.I.P., but did they release an album before he passed? I have to have this.

And 3 D-bags disliked it???? WTH is the world coming to?

Follow the Tears is off of The Devil You Know, which was released in 2009, sadly, Dio's last album if I'm not mistaken. - That vid won't be released on DVD, but I believe the entire show is on Youtube, which was broadcast on some German TV Show. But to help you out, H&H just put out a live DVD/CD called "Neon Nights: 30 Years of Heaven & Hell" which I will be buying. Screw those three douche bags, they're just jealous of Dio...Dio will live on forever.

That kind of music is perfect for a 5 string bass.

At least that song is on the DVD. Then we'll get to see that 5er in action with the Bass God.

If it wasn't cool before...it is NOW.

That's the power of Geezer's coolness factor.

Interesting. I've only seen him use 4's before.

You have to give Geezer credit for acknowledging the genius of Jack Bruce ( his main influence as is Jeff Berlin's ) and also for not using a pick!

Using a 5 string for metal is also a no brainer. Why wouldn't you want those deeper tones for this style of music????? ( unless you are a seriously dated person stuck somewhere NOT in the "now" , and I'm from the 60's myself )

Here's my favorite great recent Geezer quote...

"Lately, I've been listening to some jazz albums. I love the new Pat Metheny album. John Coltrane. I still like good metal, though!"

That's WAY cool that Geezer's into Metheny and Coltrane. Proving that he's not just a brainless metalhead.

Did I mention that he doesn't use a pick?

Why does it matter to you whether a bassist uses a pick or not? Also, he has used a pick at times, just so you know.

One doesn't exactly have to have a 5 string to get those low notes... usually Geezer has just used a down-tuned 4.

Why does Geezer need credit for acknowledging his biggest influence?
Why does Geezer need credit for apparently not playing with a pick (although he regularly has)?

I play metal. I'm not particularly into Metheny or Coltrane, and I don't listen to much jazz. Just another brainless metalhead!
