For all the hate the guy gets, I feel he is an extremely competent bass player and wrote some very good lines over the years.

Alot of these basslines are memorable and define the songs, and alot of the not so easy walking style basslines he plays are done so while singing, which is not easy.


None of these songs are exactly easy to play while singing, IMO, and I consider myself a pretty good bassist, with my main influences being Crimson, Chris Squire, Tool, KISS obviously, and Tool.
Bassline's kinda hard to hear in the first one, might have to turn it up all the way.

Don't be an ass because someone else has an opinion.

And yes I think Gene did write some good basslines. I like some of his stuff. Im not a big fan or anything but I enjoy playing some of his stuff. Like going blind is pretty solid.

Looks like they peaked in 1980, my fav. in the group was the drummer. . I like KISS and I'm no snob, amazing that they do have staying power........
