Listen to his bass playing!!! I guess this proves Gene can play bass!! There were no outside writers or players, so what you hear is what you get.

And how do we know that's not Ace or Paul pumpin' the heavy gauge strings?

Probably because Ace isn't in the band. It almost sounds like they're ripping off old KISS songs. Like this is a conglomerate of rip-off rips.

It doesn't matter if he is the greatest that ever was, which he ain't.

Gene Simmons is a boor and a fool.

I wish I had known sooner. He would have never been a hero of mine.

I guess I'll just never understand the hate for the guy as a bassist, I mean, hating him as a person is one thing, but at least sho wsome respect for his bass playing!

You people just can't seem to cope with and/or comprehend the fact that Gene Simmons is a decent bassist.

That's what I thought.

I must say even as a huge KISS fan, I think now is the best time for them to go out at the end of this tour with the smallest smidgen of credibility they will gain from this record.

I don't know about this cd yet, but most of the bass on Kiss albums is Will Lee, not Gene

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same with this album.

Plugged in.

[edit] Just listened to the track. I think the bass is awesome. It's really sad to me however that we dont' really know who wrote and played it. While his character and the bass lines on early KISS albums was definitely an inspiration, it sucks that I can't really say he influenced me at all. Specially if it's true that Will Lee played most of his stuff. I know it's a fact that other bassists have, but this is the first I'm hearing regarding Will.

Will Lee did alot on Kiss albums, just like most of the drumming wasn't Peter Criss, it was Anton Fig who also did Ace's solo album

I have never been the hugest fan of Kiss, but they do have a few songs I like. The new ones that you linked to didn't impress me much as songs go, but the bass was great. I have always appreciated Gene's ability to write solid, thick bass lines that ooze raunchy rock out of them.

As soon as he plays something respectable I'll consider it.

It does kinda suck, but studio guys are just so good at studio work. Time is money when recording and it's just so much cheaper and easier to have a studio guy play the part. In fact, even with Megadeth's earlier stuff, I'm not sure about the new material, that's not Dave Elfson, it's actually a Nashville session bassist who worked in LA at the time a session guy there. But I look at it this way, the guys on the cd cover still play the parts live and taking nothing away from their ability or talent, it's just easier in the studio to have a guy that does studio work everyday for a living.
