I've seen pictures of him with an SG bass, and videos of him with a telecaster bass.

Tele and a P AFAIK. I think that is a publicity shot.

I know for fact he played a Tele in 1973 when I used to see The Meters every Wednesday night (I think) at the Nitecap in New Orleans.

Never saw him play that one though...

For sure, the Tele is well documented in photos ... the P is what he's most associated with and he's currently using a Lakland P.

Looks like that Eko Viola (or whatever) was a one-off (possibly for a photo only) though.

Could be the photographer was going for a look where guitar and bass "matched" in the photo.
