good bassists in surprising places

I dont know what the general consensus is on pop punk around here, and maybe its because Its 5 in the morning from an all nighter, but i was listening to my itunes on shuffle, and on came on what started off as a normal pop punk song, then I noticed I could actually distinguish the bass in the music!

From a band as I always dismissed as whiny vocals and average prepubescent musicians, I hear a very solid, interesting bassline that actually adds a small part to each song. I was especially impressed by their song "New American Classic" off the album Where You Want to Be. (though i could barely tolerate any other part of that song in particular)

anyone else find great bass players in surprising places?
