The thing I love about Mick (besides the fact that he played in tune) was his distinctive voice on his instrument. He was a true iconoclast and a humble visionary. We need more like that.

I love Mick's music, the man will be missed.

To his friends and family, my deepest condolences.

Very very sad. He was perhaps the most unique bass player ever.

ex-Japan members have been a big inspiration to me. Sylvian, Jansen & Barbieri still make pure music.

Beautifully said and so true.

Mick was my favorite Bassist, I will never forget the first time I heard Mick and Japan. Listening to the intro of Gentlemen Take Polaroids it was clear that he wasn't your ordinary Bassist, hit me right in the stomach and heart.

RIP Mick

listening to Japans "quiet life" this morning on the way to work this morning and decided to do a search to see if there was any news on Micks health. THIS was NOT what I wanted to hear. Gutted, Mick has been my favorite bassist for 30 years. RIP Mick.
