Yeah he is, and he's good, too. The stuff is simple, but it drives the songs well. Good bass-heavy music.

Flapping big ears.
Beyond count of years
I stump round and round,
Never lie on the ground,
Not even to die.
Oliphaunt am I,
Biggest of all,
Huge, old, and tall.
If ever you'd met me
You wouldn't forget me.
If you never do,
You won't think I'm true;
But old Oliphaunt am I,
And I never lie.

Murdoc is Actually Tina Wheymoth (SP?) Which would explain the cool bass.

And I think it's Jamey somethingorother that does all the cartoons. He does the Tank Girl comics as well.

I'm trying to remember who the other people are in the group... I know that the singer is the singer from Blur, but after that, my mind is drawing a blank.

I don't think Tina played bass with the Gorillaz, check out this interview with Chriz Franz:

http://www.efestivals.co.uk/estage/0103b/gorillaz.shtml

Here's an excerpt..

--What exactly was your involvement?
Tina did some of her Tom Tom Club style harmonies and I played some nutty
bongos (is there any other kind?).
--Did you enjoy your involvement?
Absolutely!
--Did you get to work face to face with the other musicians involved?
No, Dan and Damon were in a studio somewhere in Jamaica and sent us a DAT to
work from. We did our parts at our own studio, The Clubhouse, in Cock Island,
Connecticut, USA.

He could be, I could be, MANY PEOPLE COULD BE, does anyone care that the basslines in The Grorillaz music is all probably computer generated and the charactors are fictional, or do I not sense the sarcasm in this thread.

the basslines are not computer generated, and the point of the band, and what makes the concept cool, is that the band is made up of fictional characters with an actual background and actual events happen in their fictional life.

Yes, the character Murdoc is a satanist.

I like the concept of a 'cartoon band'. Many bands have made concept albums, but the Gorillaz took it a step further.
