Ben Ely (Gurge), Peter O'Doherty (Mentals), Andrew James & Peter Gifford (Oils), Nick Seymour (Crowdies), to name just a few.

I was fortunate enough to play support gigs with John Archer and Helen Carter's respective bands, they both had distinctive sounds that influenced just about everyone.

I saw the 'Gurge two weeks ago (they played "Tu Plang" and "Unit" in their entirety!), and I will never be satisfied listening to "Music Is Sport" or "Popcorn" at anything less than concert levels of volume again. Damn you , Ben Ely!

Long-held notes which move through you and rearrange your clothing. How could I do anything but grin?

Blox ruled, and could belt it out like no one else while he played.
Killer voice. The Spys were a great band.
I've also had the privilege to correspond with him on a few occasions - he's a class act.

another big +1 for John Archer of Hunters and Collectors. His work on the Jaws of Life album still floors me all these years later. And that tone........

Stewie was a Melbourne based studio and live performer who played with Kate Ceberano, Diana Kiss (with Ross Hannaford, Jex Saarelaht, Peter Jones and Ray Perreira), Renee Geyer, Vika and Linda Bull, Men at Work, and once even filled in at 24 hours notice for Billy Joel when his bassist fell ill in Brisbane.

Colin Edwin from Porcupine Tree is Australian

Nick Seymour from Crowded House is one of the most tasteful pop/rock bassists out there.

Always loved Phil Small's bass in Cold Chisel's Forever Now.

Stuart Kellaway had some really fun driving bass with Yothu Yindi's hits Treaty and Djäpana.

Nic Dalton was with the Lemonheads at their peak

Tim Hemmensly of the Powder Monkeys. His lines aren't particularly difficult, but so very raw, echoed is vocals.
Or Dean Turner of Magic Dirt.Solid player, did alot to help out other bands too.
