And you forgot Chris Squire which is for me THE bass player with a pick, well pick or no pick.

Hunter Burgan and Matt Freeman are awesome on the punk side of things. Two of my favorites. Ah the old East Bay scene.

Brian Cook of Russian Circles. My biggest influence right now in terms of tone and style.

Really hard to find a video that showcases bass live that doesn't sound like it was recorded with a potato.

Bobby Vega

There are guys who use a pick, and there are guys who have a real voice with a pick. Bobby has an equally strong voice using a pick or fingers. A very musical player. imho

The link with the long list covers a lot.
Colin Moulding (XTC) takes on the McCartney vibe and beyond
Linus Of Hollywood (Paul Gilbert)

The stuff that's hard with a pick are things that are more easily done with fingerstyle, such as:

Staccato single string rides (play all downstrokes and mute each note with left ring finger)
Rebel Yell - Billy Idol

String jumps:
Good Times Bad Times - Led Zeppelin
Any disco song with octave basslines
Two Tickets to Paradise - Eddie Money
All Right Now - Free
Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin

Gallops: (bump badadump badadump badadump)
Diamonds and Rust - Judas Priest

Rolls:
Alternate up and down strokes with the very tip of the pick really fast, barely touching the string so it sounds like a smooth extended sustained note. The fresher the pick the smoother it will be.

Sorry the songs are all oldies, but you know old man gonna give old man answer.
Gallops like 'Planet Earth' from Duran Duran are an exercise in consistency. I have a big appreciation for this line that's almost like a sequencer. This is one of the few songs JT plays with a pick, but to me it's impressive.

A lot of great pick players have been mentioned, however I am surprised Mike Dirnt from Green Day has not been mentioned yet (or perhaps I missed it). Awesome player with a pick and I love his tone.

Grab a copy of the Relayer album by YES, and also Close to the Edge by YES, and learn all of the bass notes that Chris Squire plays on those two albums. I guarantee that you will be a better pick-wielding bass player after that.
