Great Bassists, Bad Bands

Personally I love Ryan Martinie's and Alex Webster's basslines, but I hate their bands, Mudvayne and Cannibal Corpse. Anyone else like a bassist from a band they hate?

The cat from Coheed and Cambria.

A lot of rap/hip hop bassists, just because Im not a fan of that genre too much.

Ralphe Armstrong, in the case of Jean-Luc Ponty's band. Jean-Luc Ponty's music just doesn't make me feel anything other than a bit dirty (those cheesy compositions performed with the cheesiest synth sounds...), but Ralphe's playing is amazing.

I'll agree with Ryan Martinie. I just can't into Mudvayne but his parts are always cool.

Especially on Death Blooms, god I love those harmonics!

Mickey Madden from Maroon 5 is another one I can think of.

EDIT: Dont know his name, but the cat from Paramore also has a few good bass lines.

John Taylor from Duran Duran. The band was good, I just hated 80's pop.

Flea. I like his style but I could never get into the RHCP for some reason.

I had to think on this one for awhile, now I am going to show my age. I love 60's rock and Brit Invasion, but I never was much of a Who fan, though most of their stuff was pseudo intelectual pop, but I loved John Entwistles bass playing.

There are a lot of bands where I dig the musicianship and playing but just can't get into the music as a whole. I guess that counts. If so, there are a whole lot of bands for me.

Only band I can come up with is The Cure. Great bass parts; vocals make me want to use an icepick on my eardrums...
