Sad news this morning:

http://cbs2.com/local/local_story_216122243.html

He played with a long and varied list of artists: John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Louis Armstrong, Judy Garland, John Denver, the trio Peter, Paul and Mary and Bob Dylan.

I remember he came to my school to talk once and he was a deep thinking musician without a lot of snobbery and he had agreat sound...

I saw that today and was very sad to hear it. The man did have a life full of both musical, ethical, and academic achievements. In a way, that is about all anyone can ask to have.
